Warsaw (AFP) – Catholic priests in Poland burned books they say are sacrilegious this weekend, including tomes from British author J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series of fantasy novels.
“We obey the Word,” priests said in a Facebook post showing photographs of the public book burning and quoting Biblical passages from the book of Deuteronomy in the Old Testament.
One passage exhorting believers to destroy the enemies of God includes the command to “burn their idols in the fire”.
The post, on a page run by the Catholic “SMS from Heaven” evangelical group, stirred controversy and has gone viral.
Photographs show three priests carrying a basket of books and other items, including an African-styled face mask through a church to an outside fire pit.
Priests are seen saying prayers over the fire pit where other items, including a book from the Twilight vampire-themed fantasy romance series, a ‘Hello Kitty’ umbrella and a Hindu religious figurine, are also burning.
One of our board members was lured into satanism by a Hello Kitty umbrella. True story.
Father Jan Kucharski, the priest in the Gdansk parish where the book burning took place, told the natemat.pl news website on Monday that they had burned items “linked to the occult and magic.”
“Aside from the books, there were talismans and amulets. Parishioners brought them to put things in order” as part of spring cleaning, added the priest, who is also listed as an exorcist on the Gdansk diocese official website.
The burning took place in front of his church after Sunday mass.
Kucharczyk dismissed comparisons to the cultural censorship of totalitarian regimes like Nazi Germany.
“We know what’s harmful to our faithful so that’s why we held an event like this. I’d even call it evangelical,” he told natemat.pl.
“I’d like to believe this is a joke… Seriously? Are people burning fantasy literature in the 21st century in some kind of sick ritual?!” one Facebook user said in a comment underneath the post.
“It’s hard for me to believe that we’re so backward!” the user added.
Other Facebook users, however, backed the book burning.
“Get rid of everything that does not please God and see how your life will change,” one person posted.
Launched in 1997, the Harry Potter series of books spins an epic tale of good and evil focused on the adventures of the eponymous bespectacled young wizard as he struggles against the dark wizard Lord Voldemort.
It has sometimes drawn criticism from religious and conservative circles for what they say is its focus on witchcraft.
This latest incident comes as Poland’s influential Roman Catholic church struggles to deal with the fallout of revelations about paedophilia among priests that are unprecedented in this overwhelmingly Catholic country.
Last month, the Polish episcopate admitted for the first time that nearly 400 of its clergy had sexually abused children and minors over the past three decades.
That reflected findings published in February by a charity focused on sex abuse in the church.
A survey published in the liberal daily Gazeta Wyborcza on Monday suggested that 64 percent of Poles want a secular state, with 29 percent opposed and seven percent without an opinion.
The poll was carried out March 5-11 by Kantor Millward Brown on a random representative sample of 1,500 adult Poles.

CAMBRIDGE, MA—Shedding further light on a long history of attempts to protect itself from accusations of criminal activity, biblical scholars at Harvard Divinity School reported Wednesday they have found evidence that the early Catholic church covered up for three wise men who molested baby Jesus. “After deciphering fragments of a previously unknown gospel, we now have textual documentation that clearly delineates abuse by three magi who arrived in Bethlehem and inappropriately touched the newborn Christ Child as He lay in the manger,” said Professor Raymond White, recounting the extensive efforts made by the church to scrub the story from early versions of the Bible and to discredit Jesus’ account of the event in His later sermons. “As described in newly discovered scraps of papyrus dating back nearly 2,000 years, these three magi were powerful men of great influence. Whatever moments of weakness or temptation they may have exhibited on that first Christmas morning, the early church must have seen fit to protect their reputations against any accusation from the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, who were, after all, very poor.” White went on to note that additional passages from the text explain how the three wise men were quietly relocated and allowed to continue their work in a remote village in Persia.

According to shocking new court testimony, the mother of a seven-month-old baby girl allegedly beat the infant continuously for two days in an attempted exorcism.
Just as Jeebus would have done.
An unnamed witness revealed the terrifying details on Wednesday during a bail application for Evelyn Jacobs. Jacobs and Emmanuel Welcome face charges in the murder of the baby.
The witness spoke in a South African Magistrate’s Court.
“According to the testimony of a witness who wishes to remain anonymous, on October 12, 2016, the accused (Jacobs) and a friend, Veronica, went to Welcome’s shanty,” Detective Constable Kgositsile Taolo, the investigating officer, told the court, according to Nigeria’s daily newspaper The Punch. “Jacobs had her seven-month-old baby with her at the time.”
“When they arrived at the shack, Welcome said the child was possessed by evil spirits. The mother concurred and the two accused then beat the child with open hands across her body and head,” the officer continued. “Welcome also took a Bible and started hitting the child with the Bible on her stomach. Later that night, the child could not sleep as she was in pain.”
The attack on the child continued the next day. “The witness said the next morning, she was woken up by the baby’s cries,” Taolo said. “When she looked at where the child and the mother, as well as Welcome, were sleeping, she saw them hitting the child with their open hands. She asked the two accused to stop, as they were hurting the child and could end up killing the baby.”

TV preacher Pat Robertson says the massacre in Las Vegas was caused by lack of respect for President Donald Trump, protests during the national anthem and the country having no “vision of God.”
“There is profound disrespect for our president, all across this nation they say terrible things about him,” the televangelist and former presidential candidate said on “The 700 Club” on Monday. “It’s in the news, it’s in other places.”
This is the man whom god told that Mitt Romney would be that next president and would serve two terms. He has said so many crazy things that if you read them all it would give you cancer.
Robertson went on:
“There is disrespect now for our national anthem, disrespect for our veterans, disrespect for the institutions of our government, disrespect for the court system. All the way up and down the line, disrespect.”
He also blamed the lack of “biblical authority” and “some controlling authority in our society.”
“When there is no vision of God, the people run amok,” he said in the clip, posted online by Right Wing Watch. “And we have taken from the American people the vision of God, the whole idea of reward and punishment, an ultimate judge of all our actions, we’ve taken that away.
When there is no vision of God, the people run amok.”

The transit of Mercury this time around holds special significance
YouTube channel The Prophetico said the way in which the planets will align in conjunction with star constellations could mean the end is near.
The planet Mercury is set to pass in front of the Sun in line with Earth on May 9 in a natural phenomenon which occurs 13 times a century.
However, this time around could hold more significance as there is seemingly some spooky celestial behaviour.
Jesus says, “Kill ’em all!” This must be some of that “Christian love and compassion” I keep hearing so much about.
No, we didn’t Photoshop his eyebrows to make him look crazy. Honest, he was like that when we got here. He looks like an eyelash viper.
Tennessee state Rep. Mark Pody claims God spoke directly to him and warned him “wicked” same-sex marriage proponents would pay a hefty price, which served as the impetus for the conservative lawmaker’s decision to draft legislation in defiance of the historical Supreme Court decision.
The Republican representative, a self-proclaimed born-again Christian, filed “The Tennessee Natural Marriage Defense Act” in September to defend a Tennessee state law and constitutional amendment voters supported in 2006 specifying the state can only recognize marriage between a man and a woman, The Lebanon Democrat reports.
In a video uploaded to YouTube on December 11, Pody spoke about the bill with an audience of conference attendees at the Nashville Defy Tyrants Training Sessions. That group is affiliated with an organization that supports The Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates, which encourages lower courts to actively resist higher court decisions if the higher court “makes immoral/unjust laws or policies” that run contrary to “God’s law.”
Pody told his audience that when the historic marriage equality ruling was sent down by the Supreme Court, God spoke to him and told him through a Bible passage that he was meant to warn others against the consequences of gay marriage.
“Hear the word at my mouth and give them a warning from me,” he quotes a Biblical passage from Ezekiel 3:17 while reading from off his phone. “When I say unto the wicked, ‘Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood will I require from thy hand.'”
Through the passage, Pody suggests God commanded him to save proponents of gay marriage from death by dissuading them from their “wicked way” of supporting marriage equality. Pody seems to be under the impression God will hold him accountable should the representative not try to in earnest issue the warning.
“I believe I’m supposed to be speaking to the unsaved, to the people that are performing same-sex marriages, for the people involved in same-sex marriage, it is wicked, it is wrong and I am doing the best I can to warn them,” he said.
“I believe that Nashville, Tennessee, is the time and the place that we put down the stake and we say, ‘No more!'” he said.
He called on Christians, churches and pastors to “mobilize” and “don’t let this go.”
“We cannot let this unconstitutional tyranny go on. The Supreme Court is not the supreme being,” Pody said to a round of applause.
Pody said he believes in miracles and claims that the same miracles we read in the Bible are happening today, implying the anti-gay marriage bill is one such miracle of God.
The problem is that God told some other guy that gay marriage is okay, so maybe we should all ignore pronouncements from God and just follow the law.

KANSAS CITY, KS—As the debate over the teaching of evolution in public schools continues, a new controversy over the science curriculum arose Monday in this embattled Midwestern state. Scientists from the Evangelical Center For Faith-Based Reasoning are now asserting that the long-held “theory of gravity” is flawed, and they have responded to it with a new theory of Intelligent Falling.
“Things fall not because they are acted upon by some gravitational force, but because a higher intelligence, ‘God’ if you will, is pushing them down,” said Gabriel Burdett, who holds degrees in education, applied Scripture, and physics from Oral Roberts University.
The ECFR, in conjunction with the Christian Coalition and other Christian conservative action groups, is calling for public-school curriculums to give equal time to the Intelligent Falling theory. They insist they are not asking that the theory of gravity be banned from schools, but only that students be offered both sides of the issue “so they can make an informed decision.”
“We just want the best possible education for Kansas’ kids,” Burdett said.
Thanks to The Onion for this wonderful piece.
October 7, 2015
Good afternoon and welcome to EBible Fellowship’s Sunday afternoon Bible study. Today we are continuing to look at, “Why October 7, 2015 is the Likely End of the World,” and this is study #5 in this series.
So far, we have learned the following information:
- October 7, 2015 is “10,000 days” since God began judgment on the house of God, the churches of the world, on May 21, 1988;
- October 7, 2015 is the “1,600th day” since God began judgment on the world on May 21, 2011; it would be the “40th” forty; and
- October 7, 2015 is the last day of the Feast of Harvest, which God relates to the end of the world.
There is one more emphasis the Bible places on October 7, 2015. It is a very important emphasis and it will be the subject of today’s study. It is the fact that October 7, 2015 is also “the last day” of the Feast of Tabernacles. This is very significant because of how God speaks of the Feast of Tabernacles in the Bible and how He uses that phrase “the last day.”
Let us learn what the Bible has to say about the Feast of Tabernacles and then we will look at that language of “the last day” and we will see how these come together as God links the Feast of Tabernacles with “the last day” of the resurrection and “the last day” of judgment.
Let us begin by going to Leviticus 23:34-43:
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto JEHOVAH. On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto JEHOVAH: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto JEHOVAH: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein. These are the feasts of JEHOVAH, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto JEHOVAH, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day: Beside the sabbaths of JEHOVAH, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto JEHOVAH. Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto JEHOVAH seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath. And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before JEHOVAH your God seven days. And ye shall keep it a feast unto JEHOVAH seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month. Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am JEHOVAH your God.

Michelle “Crazy Eyes” Bachman is at it again…it’s UNBELIEVABLE that this nutjob managed to get elected to Congress when she holds beliefs that directly contradict reality. This may come as a shock to some people, but there is no god, and people don’t get “turned into salt”, period, end of story, no matter how much Michele Bachman comes in her panties when dreaming of the Apocalypse..
